Good bye Melbourne, Hello home.

We’re safely settled back in Annandale and despite the general clutter that goes with relocating, all things are good. The Lovely Samantha is busy with work, Bodhi is counting the days till big school starts and I’m just trying to keep out of trouble.

With all the hoohaa lately about banks shedding jobs, I don’t want to be one of the statistics so I’ve had to think outside the box a little. While brilliant in execution, my plan to avoid the chop is quite simple really - hide. Don a bright pastel suit and stand in the hallway beside the Ken Done artworks trying to look inconspicuous if ever an exec comes past. Thankfully they’re all Singapore based and visit infrequently.

Not sure if I mentioned it but I’ve signed up for The Cole Classic Manly ocean swim in two weeks. It’s only 1km but having not swum in over three years, I’m literally doing the zero to hero training plan. This weekend started with a TRX session in the garage. Sam is an absolute nutter for this thing and took me through an upper body session. Several days later I’m still fielding complaints from numerous muscles that didn’t appreciate being woken from hibernation.

In the afternoon my fitness levels were once again humiliated, this time with Brendan’s over 35’s soccer team. Weighed down by the dual titles of The Youngest on field and The Most Unfit, my performance was less than memorable.

On Sunday I did some actual swim training at Leichhardt pool and thanked the Lord each and every lap for putting a wall at the end to rest on.

Ocean swimming – meh. How hard can it be?

See ya,
Minas.
